The Not So United States of America

I actually wrote this article during the Winter Olympics this year.  It is about a subject I feel strongly about, language in the U.S., and seems relevant with current events happening in Arizona.  Although the immigration battle in Arizona isn't solely based on language, it goes hand-in-hand in my opinion.  Here is the beginning of the article:

I for one am tired of pushing one for English. I am tired of seeing Spanish words and phrases in public, whether on a restroom door or even on signs describing what is down the aisle at the grocery store. I am tired of opening assembly instructions for a new item I've bought and having to search through all the different languages to find English. I am tired of bilingual cartoons pushing Spanish on children all over America.......Read Entire Article

The Absolute Truth About Football and Religion

What is absolute truth? A quote by Steven Robiner states, "What is absolutely true is always correct, everywhere, all the time, under any condition. An entity's ability to discern these things is irrelevant to that state of truth."

Absolute truth can pertain to just about anything. Let me give you an example of how ones belief is irrelevant to absolute truth. It is a fact that the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianaplolis Colts to win the Super Bowl this year......Read Entire Article

The Day I Was Twitter Attacked by a Socialist

One day last week, I was minding my own business when out of the blue, a socialist attacked me via Twitter. Earlier in the day I sent the following tweet to one of my followers thanking him for retweeting one of my tweets.

WalterHade: Sweet! Thanks for the RT. We've got to spread the word. We must take our country back. Remember in November!

Later that morning, a random black woman sent me the following tweets.

Socialist: what does take our country back mean exactly?
WalterHade: Take our country back means fire the elected officials who are ignoring the will of the people.
Socialist: well he's not ignoring my will. I want EVERYONE 2 have healthcare and a job. I want a better school system. I'm a teacher.
Socialist: where were the tea parties when bush drove us into a depression? He implemented NCLB,which destroyed education.

Stock Market Rebounding Steadily Despite (Obama's 9.7%) Unemployment (Rate)

How Unemployment is Actually Good for America and is Helping Stock Prices Soar

......jobs are turned down by people who are collecting unemployment because in many cases they receive a greater paycheck through unemployment benefits. Our government empowers these very people to not contribute to society by paying them to not work.

Unemployment may be exactly the reason that companies are doing so well and their stock prices are going up......Read Entire Article

We Must Remember in November

We all know that President Hussein Obama is implementing all of his policies on such a schedule that he hopes people won't remember come November.  He likely will try to implement one positive policy just before the election in an attempt to keep the Democratic majority in both the House and Senate.  We conservatives cannot let this happen.  We must spread the word and urge fellow conservatives to get out and vote in November.

Do you recall how angry you were on September 11, 2001? That is how mad you should be this coming November. Just remember how Barack Obama is now trying to appease to the very enemies who attacked us then. We must remove the Democrats.......Read Entire Article

Ball in Bucket

The parking lot version of horse-shoes

Attention truckers:  Spend a lot of time at the truck stop and need something to do?  This could be just the game for you.

Attention campers:  Tired of the usual games like horse-shoes, croquet, bocce ball, bean bag toss or hillbilly golf?  This game could be just the kind of change you are looking for.

Attention party people:  Want to try something other than board games, beer-pong, ping-pong, darts or pool?  Why not give this game a try?

Attention gamblers:  Sick of losing your money to chance games like craps, roulette, slots or even card games like poker or blackjack?  Learn this game and make a friendly wager with your opponent.

What is needed to play:

Not specifically, you need two buckets, two balls and a surface that the balls will bounce on. These materials could consist of just about anything you can find as long as they fit those simple guidelines. I have always used two five gallon buckets and two old tennis balls. I personally have played both on paved surfaces and dirt surfaces. Paved surfaces are ideal because you can usually get a better bounce with the ball and ensure that is travels in a straighter path. Dirt surfaces can be quite interesting, especially if they are slightly bumpy or on a slope. Nonetheless, the game is a blast and a challenge either way.

Rules of the game:

Set Up: Ball in Bucket can be played by either 2 or 4 people. The two buckets are placed apart from each other at a predetermined distance. I've always places my two five gallon buckets exactly 19 feet apart. Teams stand opposite each other and behind each bucket. If playing in a 4 player game, you and your partner will be standing on the same side. Randomly determine which team will throw first using a coin flip.

Play & Scoring: The object of the game is to bounce the ball or balls into the bucket on the opposite end. In a 2 player game, the same player bounces two balls towards the bucket on the opposite end. In a 4 player (team) game, both players toss one ball each on their teams turn. You cannot step past the bucket on your end as you try to bounce a ball into a bucket on the other end. You score points by getting the ball to bounce into and stay in the bucket on the other end. If the ball bounces into the bucket but then bounces out, no points are scored. Points are based on how many times the ball bounces before it goes into the bucket. One bounce equals one point, two bounces equals two points and so on. You play until one team reaches a predetermined score, usually 21. The score does not have to be exact, meaning you can go over.

Bonus Scoring (optional): If a team scores on consecutive shots with the exact same number of bounces, the score for the second ball would double. For example, if you make consecutive 2-bounce shots, you score 2 for the first ball and 4 for the second, for a total of 6. If you make a third consecutive shot, you double the previous score (4), and get 8 points. A fourth consecutive shot would be worth 16 in this example, and so on.

Bonus Ball (optional): If both balls score on the same turn, the opposing team will throw one ball back and the team who just scored will have a chance to throw it as a bonus ball. If using the bonus scoring option as described above, this bonus can be very advantageous.

Stakes: If you want to make this game really interesting, make a wager. Have each team put a certain amount of money into one of the buckets. The winning team gets to keep the money.

This game is not nearly as easy as you would think.  If you would like to learn how I discovered this game and a little background information, click the Ball in Bucket title at the top of this post or Click Here.  Good luck and enjoy!

How Obamacare Will Certainly Bring Change to America

...... the majority of Americans still oppose the President's health care plan. Despite this data, the President is still somewhat successful at convincing people who already have health care that their plans won't change.......

......People who think that the recent health care reform legislation won't affect them are only being naive. This bill will affect everybody, but not until after the mid term elections.......Read Entire Article

A Snapshot of a Failed Government Health Care System

I recently read an article written by a woman who depends on her state government to supply health care insurance for her kids.  Her article inspired me to write the following article concerning government health care and Obamacare.

......Can you imagine, living in the United States of America, and fearing that you may make too much money? I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. In the America I know, people strive to make as much money as possible in order to stay away from government assistance. Having to accept any type of government assistance, due to lack of income, should be peoples greatest fear.......Read Entire Article
